A note about fire retardancy:

If your printed fabric is destined to be sold for upholstery projects you need to consider fire retardancy.

The majority of our print bases are made from plant-based, cellulosic fibres, including cotton, flax, viscose, hemp, or blends of these in varying proportions. Since plant-based fibres are not inherently flame-retardant, they require treatment to meet either domestic or contract flame-retardant (FR) standards after printing. While we don’t perform FR treatment in-house, we regularly work with reliable third-party companies to take care of that for our clients. Contact us for details.

Alternatively, all of our natural fabrics (cotton, linen, viscose, hemp) can be paired with an FR interliner. For added convenience, we offer a premium WoolSafe Schedule 3 Crib 5 Interliner Barrier Felt with any printed fabric order. This luxurious interliner eliminates the need for FR treatment of the printed fabric and, due to its substantial thickness, can even replace wadding in certain projects.

Our Recycled Velvet is the only synthetic fabric in our print base collection, with its pile made entirely from recycled plastic bottles. As such, it will require FR treatment if intended for use as upholstery.
